AAR: Wow! OP BEAR TRAP was indeed an opportunity to ADAPT and OVERCOME. Everyone did such a fine job, it was a joy to behold.  The feast was robust and the GP small saved us from the elements.

Scenario: This scenario showed us first hand how  the high desert mountians of Afghanistan can  multiply the dangers of MilOps.

SCENARIO -
It is October 1985. The location the Afghan-Soviet War. The operation - CIA run mission to escalate the fight against Soviet forces in-theatre.

Following the secret Reagan administration decision in March 1985, reflected in NSD Directive 166, to sharply escalate U.S. covert action in Afghanistan. Reagan team decided secretly to let loose on the Afghan battlefield an array of U.S. high technology and military expertise in an effort to hit and demoralize Soviet commanders and soldiers. CIA Dir Casey saw it as a prime opportunity to strike at an overextended, potentially vulnerable Soviet empire.

Missions will focus on:

  1.   Covert insertion of military hardware
  2.    Infiltration and ambush
  3.   Locate and secure objective
  4.    Anti-Infiltration operations
  5.    Evacuation, pursuit, and ambush

Load Out -  (On uniforms -Do your best and that will be fine)

  • US Forces: CIA's - 153rd Special Strike Force,  Desert BDU
  • Soviet Forces - Soviet, MARPAT Woodland , Woodland, or OD.

Military uniforms are required for the whole OP both on and off the field of battle.   We enourage operators to dress the role, so real NATO or SOVIET uniforms would be a plus, but not required.
